Obituary of Anna M. Reale

Anna "Annie" M. Reale, 90, of Vineland passed away on Thursday, September 14, 2023 peacefully. She was born in Franklinville on September 14, 1933 to the late Nicholas and Magdalena (Mulder) VanSteyn. Annie graduated from Sacred Heart High School in 1952. While raising her family, she worked for the Vineland Board of Ed Transportation as a bus driver and retired with over 25 years of service.

She was an avid cake baker and crocheter. She loved to play cards, especially Hand and Foot, and dominoes, mainly ChickenFoot, with her family. She made many afghans for friends, baby showers, and other special occasions. She collected thimbles from all over the world from her family's travels. She made homemade strawberry jelly every year with the fresh strawberries grown at her late husband's family farm. There wasn't a summer that she didn't enjoy going with her family to the NJ shore to walk the boardwalk. She also loved to take trips to the Atlantic City casinos.

She was predeceased by her childhood sweetheart and husband of 67 years, Frank Jr.; her daughter, Kathleen; her son, James; her sister and brother-in-law, Clarina and Peter Scapellato; her brother and sister-in-law, Bernard and Barbara VanSteyn; her brother-in-law, Louis Negri; her sister, Margie Andaloro; her brother and sister-in-law, Nicholas and Eileen VanSteyn; her daughter-in-law, Geri Reale and son-in-law, Daniel Spatafore Jr.

She is survived by her children, Nick (Ruth) Reale, Joe (Brenda) Reale, Sharon (Bob) Hagenow, and Lisa Spatafore; her grandchildren, Michael (Courtney) Reale, Kevin (Rachel) Reale, Robert Hagenow II, Jessica Hagenow, Jennifer Spatafore, Danielle (Bill) Senatore and Daniel (Julia) Spatafore III; great grandchildren, Scarlett and Michael Reale Jr., Aydan Spatafore, Jace and Reagan Senatore and Sybil and Fiona Spatafore; her sister, Betty Negri; brother-in-law, Carlo Andaloro; sister, Mary (John) Formisano; brother-in-law, George Reale and sister-in-law, Joan (Bob) Wren and many nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends will be received on Saturday, September 23, 2023 from 10am to 11:15am, followed by a Funeral Liturgy at 11:30am at Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament Parish, St. Michael's Church, 504 South West Ave, Minotola, NJ 08341. Entombment will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Vineland. The family requests that in lieu of flowers please make a donation to Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament Parish.
