Obituary of Edward Peter Hughes
Edward P. Hughes of Vineland died Thursday, February 15, 2024 in Galloway.
Born in Weehawkin, NJ, Edward grew up in Harrison and was a proud graduate of Regis High School and Seton Hall University where he met his wife of 60 years, Rosanne. He began working as an executive for Prudential Insurance after college and after several relocations, he settled in Vineland where he lived for nearly fifty years. He was a longtime member of Sacred Heart, St Isidore/Christ the Good Sheppard Parish where he was a cantor and a member of the choir.
He is predeceased by his parents, Thomas and Agnes (Burns) Hughes; sister, Margaret Taylor, and daughter, Elizabeth Ann Beck.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Rosanne (Mulligan); brothers, Thomas (Judy) and Daniel; cousin, June Nigro; his children, Michael, Eileen Fortis, Kathleen Shondeck (Michael), and Thomas; son-in-law, Richard Beck; his nine grandchildren, Caroline, Patrick, and Maggie Beck, Justin and Evan Shondeck, Julianna, Kailyn, Jacqueline, and Nicholas Fortis, all of whom adored their Grandpoose, and several cousins, nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will be received on Thursday, February 22, 2024 from 6pm to 8pm and again on Friday, February 23, 2024 from 9:30am to 10:30am at DeMarco-Luisi Funeral Home, 2755 S. Lincoln Ave., Vineland. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11am at Padre Pio Parish, 4680 Dante Ave., Vineland. Burial will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Vineland.
