Obituary of Jose Colon Marquez
On March 31, 2024, Pastor Jose Colón Márquez, age 73 of Vineland, N.J. was called home to be with the Lord Jesus Christ, after a long battle with A.L.S (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis), also known as Lou Gehrig's disease.
Pastor Jose Colón Márquez was born in Coamo, Puerto Rico on March 16, 1951 to his late parents, Juan Colón and mother Maximina Marquez.
Jose Colón was self- employed as a construction contractor. After an encounter with the Lord Jesus Christ, Jose Colón decided to follow the footsteps of his Lord and Savior in service. He began his call to serve as Pastor in Arroyo, Puerto Rico, at the Pentecostal Church La Nueva Jerusalén. Pastor Jose served for 23 years and later obeyed God's call again but this time in the Missionary Field. As a Missionary, Pastor Colón received the privilege to travel different countries where he preached the Word of God with Love, Hope, and Kindness to all.
He served in the Amazon's, he planted churches, provided food, clothing to those in extreme poverty, and above all, he always gave God all the Glory. He continued as a faithful Servant of God for more than 53 years and spent his last day in the House of God with his boots on as he had desired.
He is survived by his loving wife of 9 years, Maria Colón; his nephews by marriage, Esteban, Manny, Christian, and Giovanny whom he had received custody of along with his wife. He is also survived by 6 stepchildren, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and loving family members.
Family and friends will be received on Tuesday, April 9th at DeMarco-Luisi Funeral Home, 2755 S. Lincoln Ave Vineland, NJ from 11am to 12pm followed by funeral services at 12pm. Burial will follow at Siloam Cemetery, Vineland.
