Joe was my wrestling partner throughout high school. As I was riding to his viewing tonight, I remembered what amazing BALANCE and STRENGTH he had!! Those items made him impossible to defeat.
Then I thot, “you know - he was BALANCED in every aspect of his life!
Joe was always a gentleman and a leader.
We all need to capture and hold dear those things he meant to us!! In that way we keep his spirit alive in us and he will never die until we forget him
Which I pray we NEVER DO!!

My parents always told us that the only way to heaven was to be "good", so I know that you will be well on your way. You probably will be delayed because there will be so many to greet you. I will forever be grateful for the years we spent together through happiness and stress. Your door was always open and you were always visible. The residents and employees loved that. That makes for a wonderful administrator and " our boss". May God Bless you and your family and may peace be yours.

Joe was Executive Assistant to CEO Joseph Loudermilk at Paramus Vets home when i came on board in 1988. We hit it offf well having lunch together and well my role Budget Administrator then we worked on ideas together to advance a better life for all Vets and their wives. He was promoted to Vineland Vets Home in 1993/4 and we were always in communications as to best results for Vets. In 2011 he convinced me to come down and assume my same title an it was enticing getting away from the rat race Bergen County vs Cumberland County and I actually relaxed my last 6 years at work there. He was the epitome of developing qualified staff always and his nursing staff meet Alison Bailey did best at limiting Covid deaths vs the other homes by ciircuventing Governor Murphy’s XO on CDC guidelines and following CDC guildlnes and creating a separate unit for Covid patients only and Vineland lost on 1/8 the amount of Vets than the other homes. His highly developed Nursing staff David 70-80 more lives here and well beside the success of his managerial capabilities led to a relaxed atmosphere and I remember going to his office and he was and Eagles fan and me a Giants fan and he tosses a football to me and we had a good workout low stress he was my Gurdian Angel while with DMAVA and he would stop by my office in after 2012
Once a month and talk football. Below is my last pick with home in 2016 in Vineland Business Office. RIP. Brother Joe ! Williiam H Palmer Jr retired NJ Vet Affairs 29 years

Very sad to hear of Mr. Romanos passing. Joe was my boss for many many years at the New Jersey Veterans Memorial at Vineland. I visited Joe 2 weeks before his passing. Always with a big smile no matter the circumstance. Very caring and always had words of encouragement to his employees What a great loss. My deepest condolences to his family at this most difficult time. Rest Easy Joe
