Obituary of John T. Murphy

John T. Murphy 69 of Vineland, passed away on Monday, May 5, 2014 at the New Jersey Veterans Memorial Home, Vineland. Born in Philadelphia, Pa., John was a Vineland resident for the past 44 years. He worked for the United States Postal Service in Millville as a mail carrier for 23 years and was their union representative. John served in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Korea during the Vietnam Era. He retired after serving 27 years in the Army and National Guard. After retirement, John was a truck driver for Johnson's Farms and S. Coraluzzo Company. John was a member of the Singing Ambassadors and was a member of the choir of Christ the Good Shepherd Parish, St. Isidore's Church and Divine Mercy Parish, St. Francis of Assisi Church, Vineland. He enjoyed going to car shows and reading, especially the Time Magazine, U.S. News, World Report and the Philadelphia Inquirer. He loved his 1968 GTO and was a handyman that could fix anything. He is predeceased by his brother, Michael "Mickey" Murphy, 1 sister, Loretta House, his mother; Loretta (Loughren) House and his step-father, Patrick House. He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Jean (Jordan) Murphy of Vineland 2 sons: John W. Murphy of Ohio Patrick Murphy of Alabama 2 daughters: Deborah Lelli and husband Dan of Vineland Kimberly Rainas and husband Ed of Malaga 12 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren A Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated on Saturday at 10:30am at Christ the Good Shepherd Parish, St. Isidore's Church, Vineland. Burial will be private. Friends will be received on Friday evening at DeMarco-Luisi Funeral Home 2755 S. Lincoln Ave., Vineland from 6pm to 8pm and again on Saturday morning at the CHURCH from 9:30am to 10:15am. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to www.woundedwarriorproject.org.
