Obituary of Geneva M. Venuto

Geneva Marie Venuto, 84, of Vineland, passed away on Saturday, August 23, 2014, surrounded by her family and friends. She was born in Hammonton, New Jersey on June 9, 1930. Later that year, her family moved to Hammond, Louisiana. She returned to Hammonton in 1947. Geneva married her husband, of over sixty years, Joseph Venuto in 1953. She resided in Vineland for the remainder of her life. She was an active member of the Divine Mercy Parish (St. Francis of Assisi Church), and the Sicilian-American Club. Geneva loved spending time with her family dancing, gardening, canning, and cooking Italian and Southern food; and greatly enjoyed travel and visits to Italy, Australia, Louisiana, Sea Isle City and the casinos in Atlantic City. She was devoted to painting and drawing in folk and caricature styles. She is predeceased by her husband of more than sixty years, Joseph Venuto; and her parents, Carmela ("Milly") and James L. Sullivan. She is survived by: A son, Joseph, Jr. and daughter-in-law Deborah Anne (Dunaj) Venuto; A daughter, Rose Marie Venuto; Two brothers, James L. Sullivan, Jr. and Lewis F. Sullivan; and Four sisters, Billie Joyce Accardo, Annie Laura Tompkins, Henrietta Newman, and Anna Mae Hart. A Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated on Saturday at 11am at The Divine Mercy Parish, St. Francis of Assisi Church, Vineland. Geneva will be entombed at the Sacred Heart Cemetery in Vineland. Friends will be received on Saturday morning at the church from 9am to 10:45am. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Divine Mercy Parish at 23 West Chestnut Avenue, Vineland, NJ 08360.
