Obituary of Genevieve Gelardo

Genevieve "Gene" R. (Mattioli) Gelardo, 84 departed this life Sunday, October 19, 2014 and went home to be with her beloved husband, Raymond and the Lord, surrounded by her loving family. Born in LaTrobe, Pa., she was raised in Bradenville and Derry, Pa. Genevieve moved to Millville as a young woman where she met and married the love of her life, Raymond J. Gelardo in 1952. She moved to her husband's home in Forest Grove where they lived together for 60 years until Raymond's death in 2012. For many years they spent the winter months in Florida where they had a home in Pomparo Beach. Genevieve was known for her love of hats. She wore them everywhere, especially to church on Sunday's and for her love of yard sales, cooking, and baking for family and friends. She is predeceased by her husband, Raymond J. Gelardo, Sr., her parents; Rocco and Concetta (Daviero) Mattioli, 2 sisters; Dominica "Minnie" Turner and Maria "Mary" Laragione, 3 brothers; Fredrico, Albert and Marcus Mattioli. She is survived by: 3 sons: Raymond J. Gelardo, II (Theresa) Angelo A. Gelardo (Joan) Vincent Gelardo (Marie Ludwig) 2 grandchildren: Raymond J. Gelardo, III (Amanda) Stefanie Garofolo (Paul) 5 great grandsons: Raymond J. IV, Blake and Parker Gelardo Dominick and Franco Garofolo Aunt Carmella Levato Sister-in-law: Marie Crescitelli (John) and a special niece and nephew, Marilyn (Mattoli) and husband Richard Lore and Ralph Laragione and companion Ann Fagotti plus several other nieces and nephews A Funeral Liturgy will be held on Friday at 11am at Our Lady of The Blessed Sacrament Parish, St. Michael's Church, Minotola. Genevieve will be laid to rest at Sacred Heart Cemetery, Vineland. Friends will be received on Friday morning from 9am to 10:45am at the CHURCH. Arrangements are by DeMarco-Luisi Funeral Home 2755 S. Lincoln Ave., Vineland. In lieu of flowers, Genevieve request that donations may be made in her memory to her grandchildren.
