I knew Shirley as a child when our families used to visit. We would play together and have a great time at their house. She was exceptional, even as a child I knew that about her. Later on, we saw each other from time to time through the years. She was always friendly and had a kind word to say. She always asked about my parents. We have lost a good soul to heaven. Perhaps God needed a new angel, for that was Shirley. It's just that the world is a little less bright without her here.

It takes an amazing woman to raise such a truly wonderful and special American family. Although she was taken from this earth far too early her legacy will always live on with the people that she has touched along her journey especially her boys and daughter-in-law. Shirley had a smile that was so big and wide that it seemed like it took an hour to develop. I will miss that smile so much. thinking of her, I find myself regretting not getting to know her better than I did. Although, through spending time with her over this last year and especially this last month, I believe I saw and knew Shirley at her very best.
