Obituary of Leroy Brown

Leroy Joseph Brown, 58, of Millville (Laurel Lake), passed away suddenly on March 9, 2016 in Vineland, NJ. Born in Millville, NJ on February 13, 1958, he was the son of the late Leroy and Doris Brown. He is a 1976 graduate of Millville High School. Over the years he was employed at The West Company, Shieldalloy, and for the past 13 years at Vineland Developmental Center as a locksmith. He was Treasurer of Local 195 of I.F.P.T.E. Union and also served as shop steward. Leroy is remembered as a fun loving man with a great sense of humor. He was a pleasure to be with and always made others laugh. He was a trusted friend to many and had a heart of gold. Lee enjoyed fishing and for many years was an active bowler and golfer. As a lifelong sports enthusiast, he especially enjoyed his Philadelphia Eagles, Phillies, Flyers and Seventy-Sixers. Lee was a walking sports encyclopedia. You could always count on Lee to recite any sports statistic and the names of every player in both professional and college sports. Each year he looked forward to assembling his Fantasy Football team and would spend hours studying the statistics. He will be sadly missed by his wife Maria of 19 years, sisters Jacqueline (Michael) Gavigan of The Villages, Florida and Sandra (John) Asselta of Vineland, and nieces and nephews. He is also survived by step daughters Kathy (Fred) Cruz, Mary Ortiz, Carmen Cecilio, grandchildren and great grandchildren. His four legged buddy, Buck, will miss Lee more than ever. A funeral service will be held at DeMarco-Luisi Funeral Home, 2755 South Lincoln Avenue Vineland, NJ on Tuesday, March 15 at 10:30am and will be officiated by Pastor Fernando Cruz. Leroy will be laid to rest at Holy Cross Cemetery, Millville. Family and friends will be received on Monday evening from 6:00pm to 9:00 pm and on Tuesday morning from 9:30am to 10:30am.
