Obituary of Helen G. Mougakos

Helen is now at peace with Jesus Christ. She is so happy to be reunited with the love of her life, her husband, George.
Helen was a bookkeeper for the Vineland Board of Education from which she retired. Previously and joyfully, she was the school crossing guard at Oak and Main School from 1956 to 1962, with many students being safely crossed from the old corner school.
She earned her B.A. Degree from Glassboro State College in Library Science and an award in N.J. History. She also graduated from Warren G. Harding Senior High School in Warren, Ohio.
Helen enjoyed reading, especially the Bible and mystery books. Her favorite characters were Jessica Fletcher and Sherlock Holmes. She also liked traveling and swimming.
She poured her energy and mind into the Greek Orthodox Church of St. Anthony. She was involved in the formation in the early 70's of this local church and community. Helen was a member of the church council and was the church Librarian. She was also a member of the Ladies Philoctophos Society and the Daughters of Penelope.
Helens other efforts and concerns were with the veterans. She enjoyed membership in the Gold Star Wives, the Hollybush Chapter and the V.F.W. Ladies Auxillary in Vineland. That our veterans be accomadated, visited and represented, was important to her.
She is predeceased by her husband, George P. Mougakos, WWII Seabee, her brothers, George A. Cummings, US Army Korean War Era, Leonidas Cummings, WWII US Army, sister Matina Cummings, mother-in-law Ann (nee Kloufetos) Papp and her husband Joseph Papp. Helens parents, John Cummings and Joan (nee Farmakis) Cummings.
She is survived by 2 sons; David G and Peter G Mougakos, former daughter-in-law, Kristine L Garrison, 1 grandson, Damian D Mougakos, 1 granddaughter, Nicole J Mougakos and 1 great granddaughter, Melissa J Sereday.
Funeral services will be held on Friday at 5pm at the Greek Church of St. Anthony, 430 W. Wheat Road, Vineland. Helen will be laid to rest at Arlington National Cemetery, Virginia. Family and friends will be received on Friday at the CHURCH from 3:30pm to 5pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the church. Arrangements are by DeMarco-Luisi Funeral Home, 2755 S. Lincoln Ave., Vineland.
