Obituary of John J. Petrillo
Please share a memory of John to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
John J. Petrillo, 63, of Hammonton died May 22, 2016 of a sudden heart attack. He was born on February 18, 1953 in Mount Union, PA, and was the younger son of Daniel A. and Clementina (Padulla) Petrillo. He received his B.B.A. from Eastern Baptist College, and his Master's in Christian Counseling from Christian Bible College and Seminary. He was a few credits shy of completing his Doctorate in Christian Theology from Freedom Bible College and Seminary.
He was married to Jeanne Petrillo for 29 years, and leaves behind his two children. His son, John E. and wife Brenda, with his granddaughter Chloe; and his daughter Ginna. He also leaves his brother Daniel and wife Christine, and their two children, Dan and Stacy.
John was a self-employed insurance broker, founding and growing a handful of commercial insurance companies. John was a child of the Living God; he was a Christian chaplain and minister who used the tongue in his shoes to do his speaking. He was active in many outreaches, including Calvary Chapel Men's Breakfast and Harvest Fest. His heart resonated with those who had fallen on hard times; he dedicated many nights to Code Blue Vineland which warms and feeds the homeless where he instituted and cooked "hot" breakfast each morning; he volunteered with the Atlantic City Rescue Mission to feed and minister to families; and he helped in the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy for weeks straight clearing large debris and water-damaged homes for reconstruction. He went to 54 Fitness gym, and kept his temple ready for action; he was called on by his community and peers for event security, large moves, or simply demolition, which he did all to the glory of God.
A memorial service will be held at 10:30a.m on Saturday, June 25th, 2016 at Calvary Chapel of Vineland with Pastor Frank Ippolito officiating. In lieu of flowers which wither and decay, store up for yourself treasures in heaven and please dedicate one night as a volunteer, anywhere, in benefit of your neighbor (the poor, the fatherless, the afflicted, and the needy). Arrangements are being handled by the DeMarco-Luisi Funeral Home, 2755 S. Lincoln Ave., Vineland and the Petrillo family.
