Elias Topalis, age 69, of Vineland, NJ, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 15th, 2017. Elias was born in Lehovo, Greece on May 9, 1947 to Apostolos and Aggeliki Topalis. He came to the United States in January of 1973. He initially worked as a tailor and later a carpenter, which was a trade he learned while living in Greece. He took pride in helping others. Elias was a devoted member of St. Anthony Greek Orthodox Church, who worked tirelessly to support his Greek community. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Peristera (nee Efthimiou) Topalis; his sister, Dimitria Karagani; two brothers, Vaios and Theofanis; his daughter, Aggeliki; his sons, Apostolos (Diana) and Dimitrios; his beloved grandchildren, Stefanos, Despina and Ilias; as well as his loving nieces, nephews and numerous other relatives. Friends and relatives are invited to the viewing on Monday, March 20th from 9-11am, followed by a funeral service at 11am at St. Anthony Greek Orthodox Church, 430 West Wheat Road, Vineland. Burial will follow at Siloam Cemetery in Vineland. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made, in honor of Elias, to the St. Anthony Greek Orthodox Church of Vineland, NJ.
