Obituary of Ruth Rhodes
Ruth (Bridges) Rhodes was born on May 14, 1926 in Greensboro, NC to Caswell, Sr. and Estelle Bridges. She was one of eight siblings: John, Lucille, William, Lola, George, Doris and Caswell Jr. Ruth and her family moved to Brooklyn, New York. Later she met and married Morris Rhodes, Sr. and to this union were born Gail, Stephanie, Miriam, Marcelle and Morris, Jr.
Ruth gave her heart to the Lord and never looked back. She joined and was a faithful member of the Deliverance Evangelistic Center, Inc. She served on the nurses' board and she also attended and graduated from the Deliverance Bible Institute in Brooklyn, NY.
Ruth scored very high on a civil services exam and was recruited by the Records Administration Department at Bellevue Hospital in NYC. Her work ethic and skills were notice and she was promoted to the position of surgical technician. Upon retiring from Belleville Hospital, she realized her dream of buying land and building a home in Fairfield Township, NJ.
She joined Trinity Holiness Church where she was a faithful member for many years. In 2005 Ruth joined Redeeming Life Full Gospel Ministries where she would do whatever her hands found that needed to be done. She enjoyed working in the Nursing Home Ministry at South Jersey Extended Care, where she preached, sang, gave testimony of God's goodness, read scripture and even prayed for those who wanted prayer. She remained a prayer warrior, worshipping the Lord, and studying the Word of God.
Ruth loved and enjoyed spending time with her family, friends, and especially her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was affectionately called 'Nana' by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved listening to Gospel and Contemporary Christian Music and watching various Christian programs.
On Tuesday, September 10, 2024, she departed this life to be with the Lord. She is survived by her children, Gail (Pierre) Regis, Stephanie (Lesly) Regis, Miriam Coleman, Marcelle (Valante) Perry, and Morris Jr. (Odessa) Rhodes; grandchildren, Danielle, Natalie, Desiray, Pierre Jr., Morris III, Berenice, Stephanie, Frederick, Alexis, Ashley and a host of great-grandchildren; sister, Lola Rhodes, sister-in-law Sandra Bridges, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Relatives and friends will be received on Thursday, September 26, 2024, from 9:00am until 11:00am at the Redeeming Life Full Gospel Ministries, 246 Irving Ave, Millville, NJ 08332, followed by a funeral service at 11:00am. Interment will follow in Siloam Cemetery, 550 N. Valley Dr., Vineland, NJ 08360.
